How do patients and the public feel about involvement in healthcare quality improvement?
We asked patients and the public who are members of the HQIP Service User Network (SUN) what it means to them to be involved in healthcare quality improvement:
Patients are the experts in recognising good and bad service delivery. They are on the receiving end.
Quality improvement is achieved through partnership between clinicians and patients.
Sometimes it is the little things that make all the difference to patients – ideas that may not enter the thinking of health professionals because they have not lived in that person’s shoes.
I enjoy speaking to patients, to understand their experiences and identify ways in which services could be improved.
